A Question

What, if anything, prevents us as a film blogging community from presenting our own awards? Are the Duluth or Kansas City critics that much more respected and/or influential? Or do we just not collectively care enough?

I think Steve Carlson has something in the works...

This is the sort of think I'd be happy to participate in, but that I'd never try to host myself. In order for a community to bestow awards it must first officially define itself. That's an awful lot of work. It's one thing to have, say, the Cinemarati awards. It's another thing entirely to have the "film bloggers" awards. Lots to coordinate, lots of invitations to send. Hard to bank on guarantees of participation, to set deadlines, etc. All of those critics groups have clearly defined memberships...

Just my two cents. Again, I think Steve Carlson might have something in the works...

yeah, i wondered if the logistics of the whole thing might be the biggest hurdle to overcome...besides, of course, a title that doesn't sound lame.
